If chickens don't eat meat, then from where do they get proteins to create organic matter?

CHICKENS ARE NOT HERBIVORES.
Who said chickens don't eat meat? Chickens are omnivores. They eat huge amounts of insects and other high-protein foods. They also LOVE meat when they can get it. I once watched a flock of chickens find a nest of baby mice and proceed to devour them, chasing each other around the pasture to grab the mice.

In a commercial diet, the protein comes mostly from soybeans, and sometimes from fish meal.
