In protest of Trump victory, #TwitterBlackOut emerges

In the wake of Tuesday’s news that Donald Trump had won the presidential election, many who did not vote for the Republican president-elect took to the streets—and social media—to protest.

Signs of protest and disruption flooded Twitter’s trending topics. The #TwitterBlackOut movement encouraged users to show support for women, minorities and the LGBTQ community.

The #NotMyPresident hashtag also became the rallying cry for thousands of protestors who took to the streets in cities across the country:

Protesters targeted Trump’s properties in New York, Chicago, Boston and Washington D.C.
