I am scared.
I'm also scared of car crashes, stray bullets, E. coli, antibiotic resistant bacteria, heat stroke, tetanus and choking to death on improperly chewed steak. Even more scared, in fact, because all of those things are far more likely to kill me or someone I care about than terrorist refugees. And yet, I still manage to function and make reasonable decisions in life, despite that fear. I don't even let fear stop me from eating steak, I'm certainly not going to allow it to make me ignore an epic humanitarian crisis endangering millions of lives, including women and children.
I guess the Republican Party is now the party of “scared”. It makes sense, someone has to represent the gutless, the weak-kneed and the spooked old ladies. If anyone with any fortitude has to be a liberal, that's just something we’ll have to live with.
