- There was simply no need for him to do so - After all, he knew that he was born in Hawaii, he had a copy of it and it was a meaningless controversy. Why would he bother?
- It would have played into the hands of those people who disputed his US birth - What happened when he did show his birth certificate? The argument became that the certificate was somehow “fake” taking the entirely ridiculous matter into even further levels of absurdity.
- The people who were clamoring for it had no credibility themselves - Why would he (or should he) have wasted valuable time acknowledging a collection of crackpots and cranks? What value was there for him to do so, especially since those people weren’t and aren’t his supporters and didn’t vote for him?
