Have you ever seen someone underutilize something they had and wish you could utilize it better?

YES! The guy two doors down from me has one of these:

That’s a professional-grade two-stage snow auger/blower. These cost about $3,000 new, and are designed to be used by businesses and organizations that have a lot of sidewalks to clear after a snow.

And this guy uses it for a total of about 40 feet of sidewalk. It takes him five minutes to do his sidewalk and walkway and behind his garage. Then that’s it. He just puts it away.

If I had one of those, I’d be the friendly neighbor who did the entire sidewalk, all the way around the block. I mean, if you’re out there with it anyway, and already in your snow gear, why not just walk around the block once? Literally that’s all you’d have to do… walk around the block. The machine is even self-propelled. You don’t have to push it. Just guide it.

He and I are always friendly with each other. We see each other when we walk our dogs. I know his name. But he will see me shoveling my snow while he’s using this machine on his, and not offer to use it on my sidewalk too.

It’s un-neighborly.
