What's a cool thing you ‘invented’ as a kid, only to find it had already been invented?

The c word.

I'm not going to say it on here but you all know what I'm referring to.

I was a writer in first grade. I wrote a lot of stories. I was writing a bunch of Halloween short stories and needed a name for the main character.

I wanted to use the last three letters of that word and then I cycled through the alphabet to see which word I liked the best. I got to c and decided that was going to be the main character’s name. This was first grade.

The weird thing is, the story was about how when you said his name, you turned into a ghost. In the story, his name meant a word worse than a curse word.

So yeah, I invented a word in first grade, not knowing that it was a curse word. I also had never heard the word before, and didn't realize it existed until sixth grade.

If you want to see the story, PM me. It's not an inappropriate story, except for the main character’s name.
