A call to improve our environment deserves more than one day of recognition.
As #EarthDay approaches, the hashtags #EarthMonth and #EarthWeek are making the rounds on social media platforms to encourage people to preserve the planet.
Corporate social responsibility has become much more than a photo-op for your organization as an executive hands a jumbo check to a youth athletics team. Organizations are doing their part to make the world better, more sustainable and more equitable.
Corporate Knights recently released its 14th annual list, “2018 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World.”
Organizations from an array of industries were recognized, including those from information technology, energy, health care and finance.
In a portion of its press release, the organization provides a summary of its evaluation process:
DAVOS, Switzerland, January 23, 2018 – Corporate Knights today released the 14th annual Global 100 list of the most sustainable large corporations in the world. Selected from a pool of 5,994 publicly listed companies – each evaluated on a set of up to 17 environmental, social and governance indicators relative to their industry peers using publicly available information – the Global 100 companies hail from 22 countries and encompass all sectors of the economy.
The United States boasts 18 companies on the list, the highest total among the countries featured. France, which was second with 15 corporations, has the most companies (three) in the top 10.
