Social media celebrities are signing up with the online retail giant to start up their own stores. If it works, it’s a win-win: The internet-famous folks get a cut of the proceeds, and Amazon brings their legions of fans to the site.
As these influential partners already have a huge following baked into their personal social media profiles, it’ll be easy enough to show them exactly the types of products they use on a regular basis. Those with large online communities can apply for an invitation here.
Amazon explained:
The Amazon Influencer Program is exclusively designed for social media influencers with large followings and a high frequency of posts with shoppable content. An intuitive vanity URL makes it easy for customers to find, browse and buy the products introduced to them through social media influencers. The program allows influencers to earn fees for purchases they drive through their social media platforms.
The company said that only social media users with “large followings” will make it into the program, but didn’t list follower numbers or specific criteria.

Accepted members are given a vanity URL on Amazon to which they can direct their followers. From there, the program essentially picks up where the Amazon Affiliate program leaves off. In that program, anyone who makes a purchase on your page gives the influential social media user a cut of the sales.
Amazon has been largely quiet about the program—probably due to its already large response—but TechCrunch highlighted WhatsUpMoms as one of the first to take advantage of the marketing partner program. You can check out the site’s Amazon Influencer page here.
