Pingpong tables and after-hour drinking events are old news.
Benefits and perks play a crucial role in a potential candidate’s decision for employment, and recently the focus has steered toward health and wellness, financial well-being and family life, includingadoption benefits.
Job seekers can discover the organizations that provide the best adoption assistance for their employees, as the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption has released its 11th annual Top 100 Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces list.
The nonprofit charity was created by Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas, who was adopted. Its goal is to find homes for children in America’s foster care systems.
To complete the annual list, organizations of all sizes complete a survey that considers the financial aid and paid time off that adoptive parents receive.
Topping this year’s list is American Express.
In a press release, the Foundation describes the benefits that American Express offers:
The company offers U.S.-based, regular, full-time and part-time employees up to $35,000 to aid with the cost of an adoption (up to a maximum of two events per employee). The company also offers up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave to women and men welcoming a child through adoption.
The company jumped 30 spots on the list from 2016.
The release shares statistics regarding children in foster care:
Children enter foster care through no fault of their own. Right now, there are more than 110,000 children in the U.S. foster care system waiting to be adopted. Every year, more than 20,000 children in foster care age out of the system without families. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is committed to dramatically increasing the number of adoptions from foster care.
