I’m Clara Arroyave and I’m the CEO and co-founder of PlaceMe, the largest co-living company in Boston. We offer living-as-a-service solutions, for young professionals and graduate students, by leasing all-inclusive furnished bedrooms at an affordable price and with flexible lease terms starting at 3 months.

Our rentals start at $995/month which include fully furnished private rooms, furnished common areas, all the utilities, Wi-fi, and cleaning. We offer everything tenants need for a no-hassle and comfortable experience. An important aspect of the co-living business is building a diverse community members. This is demonstrated through our tenants made of people from 33 different countries, it is a great networking opportunity. We encourage communication between our guests by organizing events, where they can meet their PlaceMe mates and create relationships and experiences together.

What problem does your product/service solve?

PlaceMe simplifies the real estate market for millennials who are looking for a comfortable, flexible, all-inclusive solution. In other words, we offer convenience by eliminating the hassles of moving-in to a different city.

What are you most excited about right now?

I am very excited about the growth of the co-living sector. The trend is being adopted worldwide and bigger players are understanding that the millennial market is not the same as the previous generation. Shared furnished rentals is the way to go for young adults to enter big cities around the world.

What’s next for you?

PlaceMe is currently raising the next round of funding intended to expand to other markets.

What’s a cause you’re passionate about and why?

Besides solving a housing problem, I am extremely passionate about supporting educational opportunities for children from minority backgrounds. I am a board member of Breakthrough Greater Boston, a non-profit after-school program that works with 6th-11th graders. The program provides the students with educational support and mentorship with the intent of decreasing the dropout rate and increasing their competitiveness. Overall, we work hard to mentor the students to make sure that the students stay and remain in college.
