Can I attend a conference free since I only want to attend one session?

Generally no. Many conferences are "by invitation only" because of the finite size of the venue. Most support the expenses of renting the venue, bringing in speakers, and providing refreshments via the registration fees. So attending without paying is a form of theft.

Note also that many conferences have a system of identification badges to deter trespassing of this kind, so it's not a good idea to try to sneak in.

However, you could contact the conference organizers and ask if there's a reduced registration fee for people who just want to attend one day or one session.  Some conferences do offer this option.
