Do you use a different name at Starbucks? If so, why?

Yes.

Saying “Sati” to a Starbucks employee - or actually to anyone - gets me one of two responses. If they're anything other than South Asian, I get a baffled look. If they're South Asian, I get a baffled look followed by, “but you’re White!”

So I started using “Frost” as my name.

The last four or five times, my drink’s come back with “Boss” on it.

I can live with that.
