Consumers seeking scary clown attire for Halloween will have to look beyond the shelves of Target.
Last week, McDonald’s that said it would be scaling back mascot Ronald McDonald’s role in marketing. Now, the threat of creepy clowns have struck Target’s Halloween section.
The retail giant will be pulling creepy clown masks from stores and online after various publicized sightings turned public sentiment against them.
"Given the current environment, we have made the decision to remove a variety of clown masks from our assortment, both in stores and online," Target spokesman Joshua Thomas told USA Today and others.

Of course, if consumers not finding the costumes at Target, they’re finding them elsewhere. Online clown merch sales have been booming for several Halloween outfits.
Costume chain Halloween express reported that creepy clown costume sales are up 300 percent. Additionally, a Party City employee in New Jersey told the Guardian that his business was selling out of clown costumes.
He said:
Right now we have no clown costumes, because of this whole clown thing that’s happening in the news. You’d better look online.
