If someone is attempting to kidnap you, your best and often only hope of survival is to resist at the moment of abduction.
If someone is threatening you with a knife or a gun, it might seem like fighting them or running away is a poor choice, particularly if there's many of them. But if they tell you to go somewhere with them, your best hope of seeing your family again is to not co-operate. Your chances of escaping or being saved drop massively the second you are taken to a secondary location. If you do end up being kidnapped, you need to escape ASAP. Every second you are under their control your chances go down and down. After 24 hours, you're basically dead. If you're lucky they will kill you outright, if you're unlucky; I probably shouldn't describe what might happen if you're unlucky, rest assured I've seen the after effects.
Often if someone is attempting an abduction their mind is on scaring and securing you, which means they aren't actually ready to kill you. This means running is a very good option, because you have at least two seconds before their mindset even goes to causing you harm. Make a lot of noise, and run towards other people (in a zig zag if they have a gun). Now their mind is on escape, they have nothing to gain by killing you, and they're smart enough to know that doing so only increases the ferocity that the police will pursue them with.
