The Trump Foundation has, so far as I can tell, basically been investigated by just one person. David Farenthold of the Washington Post. 100% of the stories I have seen investigating the Trump Foundation have been discovered by this one single reporter. From the fact that it isn’t doing its legal paperwork to allow it to solicit money to the fact Donald Trump doesn’t give to charity when he claims to to the fact he doesn’t even give to his own foundation to part of the scandal round Donald Trump’s bribing Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. Almost all the investigation into the Trump Foundation is coming from David Farenthold, whatever help he can drum up on Twitter (such as where Trump is keeping the pictures he has bought of himself with charity money), and whatever research assistants the Washington Post has lent him.
Meanwhile the Clinton Foundation makes its finances a matter of public record (because it is a public charity). It has been investigated by CharityNavigator (which awarded it the maximum four stars out of four) and CharityWatchdog (which gave it an A rating). People have tried to make an issue out of who gave it money, despite the fact that a million dollars didn’t even get a meeting with Hillary Clinton (and that Bill Clinton’s aides couldn’t get diplomatic passports) and the big smoking gun the Associated Press claimed to have found turned out to be that one of the key donors that Hillary Clinton met had been a friend of the Clintons since 1983.
The Clinton Foundation is far more transparent than the Trump foundation. It has been investigated by many people and in great detail from a huge range of angles while the Trump Foundation has basically been investigated by just one person and whatever help he has been able to scrounge. They haven’t been investigated in the same way in the slightest.
