How can I politely tell a grocery store cashier that I am not interested in her comments on my groceries?

Well, you could always try to shock her into silence. If she asks you, "Are these snacks for the big game?" you could say something to the effect of, "No, they're treats for the sex slave I keep in my toolshed."

However, considering she's probably bored out of her mind and just trying to make it through the day, you could just try making small talk about the weather or some such thing. Working all day on your feet when you're 45 can't be easy.
