Everyone should go through some kind of bad experience (e.g; heartbreak, being poor) to be able to understand and appreciate the good experience that comes along.
If we never experience the down's in our life, we won't know what feels good if "good" is the only thing that exists.
For instance, feed a hungry man one kind of cracker and he'll say it's the best. Give him many kinds of crackers and chances are, the one he previously has eaten won't be the best anymore.
It's part of learning what we know is good and/or bad is what makes some humble.
