I've never failed a class by 0.1 points, but I've lost a significant scholarship because of it.
When I was accepted to university, I met all the requirements to apply for a certain scholarship. It was a good one— nearly half of my college tuition would have been covered by that scholarship alone, and I could even get a stipend for books and food. I had all of the volunteer hours, the clubs leadership roles, the SAT scores, and the essays. All I needed was to meet the GPA standard.
And I didn't.
By 0.01 points.
If I had gotten one more A in high school, I could have saved thousands of dollars on college tuition. Heck, I got a B in my physical education class— if I had just ran the mile a little bit faster as a 14 year old, I wouldn't be so deep in debt right now.
Small choices have big consequences. It's not always fair, but that's the way the world is.
You can't get hung up on things that didn't happen. Life will continue to happen regardless of whether you pay attention to it, and new choices will come your way. Chose to make yourself better in the future.
(And if you're 14, run a little faster than you want to, just in case.)
