I was rushing between classes and ran into a girl I mistook for someone else. We had met only once previously in a group and she looked similar to another I had chatted with few lunch breaks before. I have a serious problem with matching names and faces and remembering circumstances under which I meet other people.
Anyway, I wound up asking her for a date, mistaking her for the other girl I had intended to ask. I only realized what had happened when she noticed I was writing the wrong name next to the phone number she had given me.
The twist? I kept the date. Thirty eight years, one kid, a house and a career later, we are still married.
Yes, she knows. She took it as one more indication that we were meant to be together.
