Raiders push positive PR online for move to Las Vegas

The decision was announced Monday, after months of political jostling and rumors. It was confirmed following a 31-1 vote from National Football League owners.

The move won't happen until possibly 2020, which could make for a few awkward years of football in its current home of Oakland, California. Fans have taken note—and they seem predictably unhappy.

This has sent the team’s PR efforts into overdrive, especially online. However, if fans in Oakland are upset, owner Mark Davis doesn't seem too concerned.

“If fans would like us to stay there, we’d love to be there for that,” Davis told USA Today. “I’d like to bring a championship back to Oakland.”

The team’s Twitter account is also touting NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s remarks, notable mainly because Goodell may be the most-hated man in football—among fans and players alike.

If the Raiders have hope for its branding efforts over the next few years, it lies the in the fact that's many of the team’s loyal fan base seems to be willing to stick with them in any geography.

Las Vegas’ proximity to Los Angeles, the team’s former home (and long-speculated move destination) is likely to help ease the transition.

How would you advise the team’s PR and social media teams to further promote the move, PR Daily readers?
