1. Associated Press – Chicago Bureau: Assistant Editor Sarah Rafi has been promoted to deputy editor at @APCentralRegion. Sarah has helped coordinate major stories for AP including the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri. Sarah started out in Cleveland for Associated Press as a part-time reporter before moving onto a desk supervisor position in Detroit for three years. She then transferred to the Chicago Bureau where she’s been covering the Windy City and the central region. The AP central region covers a large swath of Midwest states including Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and goes south through Missouri to Texas and Oklahoma.
2. Marketplace – Washington Bureau: Former “Decode DC” podcaster Andrea Seabrook takes the reins as the D.C. bureau chief at @Marketplace. Seabrook, who can be found online @radiobabe, was NPR’s congressional correspondent for many years and also a host of NPR’s All Things Considered. With Marketplace, Andrea will be looking to cover the intersection of finance, business and politics in our nation’s capital.
3. Sports Illustrated: Chris Stone (@SI_ChrisStone) has been promoted from managing editor to editorial director at @SInow. In addition to running SI, Chris will also be in charge of “Golf” and “SI Kids.” As managing editor for the last four years, Chris transformed SI brands including “The Monday Morning Quarterback” and “Planet Futbol” to higher readerships and also helped grow the SI Swimsuit into a cross-cultural brand that reaches millions in a variety of formats.
4. The New York Times: Film Writer Monica Castillo (@mcastimovies) has joined The New York Times’ @Watching. “Watching” is a free emailed newsletter that focuses on movie and television recommendations. It is designed to provide viewers with information to help them make decisions on what to watch with their valuable time. Television Editor Gilbert Cruz is in charge of the newsletter. Monica will be covering Hulu, Netflix and other online distributors to help viewers find the most interesting new show or film to stream.
5. CNNMoney.com: Former Vocativ Executive Director Alex Koppelman (@AlexKoppelman) has enlisted as the media editor at @CNNMoney. Alex brings along a wealth of experience as a political editor at The New Yorker and as an enterprise editor at The Guardian. Alex’s new role will have him in charge of all media coverage at CNN Money’s Media and Entertainment team.
