These movies are dominating the box office, offering fans of the genre a plethora of options to satisfy their taste for the fantastic.
Most recently, Sony Pictures, which owns the rights to Spider-Man, collaborated with Marvel Studios for the release of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” The latest addition to the superhero film world grossed $117 million domestically on opening weekend, and $268 million worldwide to date.
There exists, too, a Marvel Cinematic Universe in which major Marvel movies coexist in a web of interconnected stories. “The Avengers,” which reached over $1.5 billion in worldwide box office sales, features Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor and Captain America. Their stories have been played out in stand-alone films, all of which relate to the overall universe.
Marvel Comics was started by Martin Goodman in 1939, originally as Timely Comics.
Some of Marvel’s most popular stories were co-created by comic book editor, publisher and writer Stan Lee. Some of his notable superheroes include: Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and X-Men—though he collaborated on many other comics.
You can join the superhero universe. Marvel is looking for a manager of communications, publishing and digital media at its headquarters in New York.
The role requires generating buzz for events and stories, as well as building relationships with major media outlets to keep a consistent flow of stories related to the brand.
Interested candidates must also have a deep understanding of the Marvel brand.
