My biggest plot twist was when I became pregnant (not as a youngster - I was 32 - and on birth control pills, but…) and my boyfriend did not want to have kids/get married. I was at the right age and really wanted to have kids and it was the right time for me. I thought long and hard, and with the support of my mother (actual financial support - I did the math and thought I would be short about $100/month to cover childcare while I was at work), I went ahead and had my son. My boyfriend’s family (mother) wanted me to give my child up for adoption, as she did not approve of a single woman having a child (and did not approve of me, so did not want her perfect son to marry me!), so I did not think it fair to ask him for any financial support - it was my decision and mine alone. I have never regretted for a minute the best decision I ever made.
