I was at my husband’s work a few weeks ago, waiting for his shift to be over. He works at a large bookstore, so I decided to wander through the aisles and look for some Christmas presents. That's when I overheard this conversation between two elderly people…
Person 1: “Well, thank God we’re finally done with Obama. I couldn't stand having a Muslim in charge of our country.”
Person 2: “You’re so right. And you know the real reason Obama didn't go to Justice Scalia’s funeral, right? It's because it was in a church. That's holy ground. Everybody knows that Muslisms can't walk onto holy ground. It's like they hit an invisible wall — they physically can't walk past the barrier.”
Person 1: “Ugh, I know. And he's only half-black. Can you imagine if one of them, one who's full-blooded, gets elected? It'll be chaos!”
At this point, there were so many levels of wrong that I knew trying to introduce silly things like truth or logic into their conversation would be utterly pointless. Soooo I quickly stepped myself away from the Crazy Train…
