How PR pros can find winning keywords

Effective keyword research is one of the most underrated skills of the communications profession.

Without it, your efforts to build a strong search engine optimization strategy are futile.

Performing keyword research is a matter of determining which words and phrases are most relevant to the consumers who are searching for your business (and might not even know they’re searching for it).

In order to determine your best keywords, you must think like a consumer. If only it were that easy and you could stop there.

Start with some keyword research tools. Google and Bing offer free search tools—and there are also some free keyword suggestion tools like Ubersuggest and SEOchat suggestion tool.

1. Find your seed keyword.
