Quite a lot in a quiet way, and no, it’s not a bad thing. Hillary and Bill have very similar political views, and although the era is now a different one, she will have the benefit of his expertise just as he had the benefit of hers when he was president. His is worth more just because he’s been there. But they’re both extremely sharp and I’m sure Hillary will consult him occasionally behind closed doors.
Publicly, I very much doubt that she will give him any formal role. He tried to give her a formal role in his own presidency and people screamed bloody murder because she hadn’t been elected to anything. The same would be true this time too, if she tried it. Besides, he will not want to upstage her in any way.
The worst thing that could happen (in a long-term sense) for the first female president is for people to say that she couldn’t do the job without her husband’s help. The Republicans will say it anyway, but she’s not going to give them any ammunition.
