Eliminate the federal minimum wage and you are then left with regulation at the state level, 50 opportunities for experiments to see what works best, based on local circumstances. Today around 30 states have state minimum wages that are above the federal minimum wage. Presumably they would remain as-is. There would then be a political battle in the remaining 20 states on whether or not to set a minimum wage at same level as the abolished federal minimum wage level.
