I don't plan on having kids, but yes, I would likely homeschool my hypothetical children. More specifically, I would homeschool them from Kindergarten-4th grade at the very least.
Why?
It would allow them to have a childhood. I see how much homework and stress my public schooled little sister is put through every day going to a public elementary school, and I would never want to put my kids through that. Homeschooling allows kids to get all their work done in 1–5 hours, so they can spend the rest of their day playing and being a kid. Obviously, if they were insistent on wanting to go to public school, I would let them, but I would discourage it until 5th grade.
I would, however, give them the option of going to public school once they enter 5th grade. I would encourage them to start in 5th grade because it would allow them to adjust to a public school environment instead of just throwing them right into middle school. I believe that public schooling can be great, especially in middle and high school. It allows kids to be exposed to many different types of people, and it teaches them how to handle stress. I wouldn't want them to experience this during their younger years, when you should just be running around and being a kid, but I do think that it can be a positive experience in the older years.
