What are your most controversial or unpopular opinions?

I am gonna get skewered for this probably but oh well:

  1. I have deep admiration for the secular communist regimes of the cold war era and the secular Baathist/Pan-Arab regimes because of their role in suppressing Islamists and Jihadists in Muslim majority nations. Kemal Ataturk is also a role model for me.
  2. I believe in spreading nuclear weapons technology to key Muslim majority regimes like Iran and Turkey to prevent the relentless and disastrous regime-change military missions being carried out by NATO countries in the Islamic world that have toppled stable, secular regimes in countries like Syria, Libya and Iraq and replaced them with ISIS and other Islamic terrorist affiliates.

People who have followed me for a while are well aware of my anti-Political Islam viewpoints, my strong beliefs in Secularism, liberalism, feminism, pro-LGBT and pro-tolerance ideals. So when i voice such “militant” views they are surprised. I will try to explain to the best of my ability in a short answer why i hold these beliefs.

  1. The Marxist regimes in Central Asia, the Caucus and the short one in Afghanistan did much to push back against Islamists, the Political Islam advocates, the Mullahs, the Wahabis and the Jihadist factions that are today ruining the Islamic world. Even today in 2016, if you poll the Central Asian states for their views on Shariah Law you will find considerably low support for Islamic laws in those countries and more support for secularism.

The Baathists are a more mixed bag and while they may not have been able to stem the tide of conservatism in general, they did much to suppress and root out Islamist Jihadists, provide some level of social services to their people, keep the nation united and stable and promote a secular atmosphere that allowed non-Muslim minorities like Christians, Yazidis etc to live in peace without fearing for their lives.

I am quite amused at Western commentators these days lecturing Muslims about the values of Secularism and how Islam needs a reformation. Oh really now? This is coming from the nations that militarily protect and defend the biggest sources of Wahabi/Salafi ideology in the world: Saudi Arabi and her fellow Gulf states? The NATO that provided billions in Aid to the Pakistan military to carry out Jihad in Afghanistan and suppress democracy in our country while turning their noses up at our legitimately elected democrats?

The Islamic world has produced a number of successful secular and reformist movements that have freed women, protected minorities and suppressed medieval era Islamists and Jihadists. And the West was quiet happy to blow them all away in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Communist Afghanistan because they dared to align with the USSR rather than bow to the West (Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Qatar’s role in the toppling of such secular regimes also infuriates me)

I’ve made no secret of the fact that i have a deep and ingrained hatred for Jihadists, Islamists, Salafis, Wahabis and all those other -is that want to impose Shariah law, oppress women, murder minorities and indulge in a sectarian orgy in the Islamic world. Which is why i have long supported the USSR era Communist regimes in Central Asia and the Baathist / Pan-Arab regimes in the Arab world that suppressed Islamism, empowered women, protected minorities and provided stable governments in the region. And this is quiet a controversial view for some people particularly in the West who view them as evil thanks to the media propaganda we see in Western nations.

2. I truly do believe that enough is enough and its time for Islamic nations to arm themselves up with nuclear weapons for their own defense. I don’t want those weapons to threaten Israel or Europe. I don’t want them to nuke Sunnis or Nuke shias or what not.

But i do think its time we all get serious about defending ourselves from the pro-Regime change mad men in Washington , London and Riyadh who are now itching for a war against Iran.

The US and NATO in particular love to lecture the rest of us about how only responsible nations can handle nuclear weapons. Well, I've watched these responsible nations (the US and the UK) first blow up Iraq and cause a crises that lasts even today. Then i watched the US, UK and France blow up Libya, one of the most stable, high HDI, Islamist-free countries in North Africa and cause the Mediterranean refugee crises. Then i saw them try to topple the secular regime of Assad in Syria by flooding Syria with arms and armament that ended up in the hands of terrorists, turning a blind eye to their allies (Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia) fund and arm ISIS even as it was murdering their own citizens in Paris and Brussels and even bomb Syrian army positions in “accidents”.

These “responsible” nations would turn the entire Arab world into a cesspool of Jihadism with their relentless toppling of Secular, stable regimes and then lecture Muslims about how Islam needs a reformation.

Btw, i love how Muslims are supposed to reform themselves and reform Islam while living in autocratic states and spread across 3 continents, but the citizens of the US, UK and France cant even stop their countries from bombing the middle east to smithereens despite living in a democracy. Try to reform teeny tiny things like campaign finance reforms in the US before lecturing brown folk on how to reform their religion amidst constant bombings by NATO, thanks.

We cant wait for the US and the rest of NATO to come to their senses since its apparent that they wont. 16 years and 3 secular Islamic countries de-stabilized. The largest refugee crises after WW2 triggered. And now Iran is in their sights, the country that has done the most alongside Syria and Russia to fight the evil of ISIS.

Turkey, Iran and other regimes need nukes and they need them ASAP because the US leadership has gone mad and their citizens have proven unable to stop the madness in their countries that have wrecked entire generations of state building in the middle east. I include Turkey in this list, despite their support for ISIS under Erdogan, because i think the country is still redeemable and there is a concerted effort to break up Turkey in a Balkans type situation.

P.S. This isn’t a blanket condemnation of the West. I have long supported and admired the ISAF mission in Afghanistan that toppled the Taliban and installed a democracy there that has actually helped elevate the status of women and push back against Islamism in the country. You can read about it here:

Usama's answer to Why has America recently failed to build strong nations in the countries it invaded?

Conclusion

You guys are welcome to ban Muslim immigrants from the West and set up a Muslim registry if you want. Its your country and they are your citizens, do with them as you will and its your right as a democracy to limit immigration into your country.

But stay the hell out of our countries and stop regime changing every state that doesn’t follow you dictates.

I am well aware that Islam and Muslims need reforms, need to combat intolerance, improve women’s rights and combat terrorism within our ranks. And i will always support movements in the Islamic world that attempt to do that with my own belief being in Secular democracy protected by a strongly secular military, courts and civil populace. But i do not see the West as an ally in this endeavor anymore unfortunately.

The secular liberal Muslims in the Islamic world today praise Putin and Xi and Assad. They do not praise the West that has unleashed relentless war and empowered Islamist like ISIS and Al-Qaeda while protecting sources of terror like Saudi Arabia.

These are my controversial and unpopular views.
