Then in February, Tostitos laid down the gauntlet with a bold move to add a breathalyzer to its bags as part of a Super Bowl promotion. The bags also had the ability to call an Uber for you.
Not to be outdone, Doritos has teamed up with the “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” team to introduce a bag with a playable tape deck in it.
It’s all part of the “Rock Out Loud” promotion Doritos launched at midnight Friday. The campaign will run for only 24 hours.
Doritos reps created pop-up locations in New York and Los Angeles, where they’re encouraging fans to sing “one of the soundtrack’s most iconic songs at pop-up recording booths. Fans will have the chance to win the custom Doritos music bags, concert and other event tickets, and free bags of Doritos,” according to a press release.

The cassette tape in the Doritos bag includes the entire soundtrack for the latest “Guardians of the Galaxy” installment. It’s meant to emulate the beloved mix tapes of Chris Pratt’s character, Star-Lord.
Featured songs include Parliament’s “Flash Light,” Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord,” Cheap Trick's “Surrender” and Electric Light Orchestra’s “Mr. Blue Sky.”
Cheap Trick member Robin Zander will be on hand at the New York event, as well.
For consumers not able to make it to New York or Los Angeles, you can enter to win merchandise by tweeting or Instagraming a karaoke-worthy moment with a bag of Doritos under the hashtags #DoritosRockOutLoud and #Entry. Bags were also sold on Amazon in a limited basis.
