It’s very possible he may not have even known about it.
Reagan had an extremely advanced case of Alzheimer’s by the fall of 2001; he had less than three years left to live at that point. He hadn’t appeared in public in five years and hadn’t made a public statement in seven.
I would imagine that even if he had a moment of lucidity to where he would have understood what had happened, Nancy wouldn’t have distressed him by telling him about the attacks.
