Tile makes a great choice for the floors and walls of your bathroom. Continue reading to learn about some tips on choosing a bathroom tile that can perfectly fit your home style.
1. Plan it All Out
This is your home and you know what you require to make your bathroom functional for you. Make sure you design your bathroom so that all your needs are met and that this bathroom renovation will work for you for years to come. Once your plan is in place, then you can start working on deciding what kind of tiles will work best for you.
2. Try To Keep It to No More Than 3 Different Tiles
Taking your first (must have) choice as a starting point, use it to make the decisions for the other tiles you will include in your design. If your must have is a really unique color or pattern and is going to be the focal point of your design, pull more subtle colors from it to use in your accent tiles. If however your first choice is really plain (like a white subway tile) you may want to add an element of interest with a colorful accent tile or even a smaller scale white penny tile to change it up and add interest.
Typically you will choose a floor tile, a wall tile for the shower/ tub surround or even all of the walls in your bathroom, and an accent tile that will be used as a focal point. This is just a guideline. Don’t be afraid to break the rules a little bit.
3. Choose Colours That Suit the Users
At the end of the day, your choice of colours should be determined by the end user. If you barely spend time in your bathroom, then why splash out on expensive tiles, when plain ones will do the job? If you have a family bathroom, you might want to use bolder, simple primary colours to make it more child-friendly. If your family is older, or you don’t have children, a more style-conscious colour scheme can be employed, like gorgeous grey glazed tiles or contrasting wood effect tiles.
