You become a national hero (Adorno, Bloch, Günther Grass) or politician (Fischer, Gysi, etc.). Anti-German slogans in Germany are almost as popular as anti-American ones, they're uttered by members of the Bundestag (our general assembly), and they're the foundation for many changes within the country.
Our 12th Vice Chancellor, Joschka Fischer, was once a member of the Putzkolonne a precursor to the RAF (Red Army Faction, domestic terrorists). To his credit, he left this life when, in 1977, the RAF started killing and maiming.
Former attorneys for and members of the RAF are in local and state governments, crowing anti-German paroles isn't as much frowned upon as it's considered a part of our national identity.
The response?
After the last flood of anti-German military ("Bundeswehr Abgetreten," "you're dismissed, Bundeswehr") sloganeering by Hessian politicians, this poster began appearing in train stations and elsewhere. It read "we're also fighting for your right to be against us."
