How is living in Europe different from living in North America?

Many others have answered in considerable detail, so I will stick to one topic: cheese. In small towns in the middle of the United States (not around the edges), your choices are typically limited to cheddar (not from the real Cheddar Gorge, of course), swiss (not from Switzerland, of course), provolone, monterey jack, "American," blue, and maybe a handful of others. It's rare to find 20 kinds.

Europe being smaller and closer together, just about every town, even fairly remote ones, can offer dozens of cheeses including some very strange ones. Things that come wrapped in nettle leaves. Things that have pineapple embedded in it. Things that really should have a biohazard warning sign.

I'm currently on an island in the middle of the sea off the coast of Sweden. Everything has to either be made here or to come by ferry. I can still probably buy about 50 kinds of cheese at the supermarket, and more at the specialty cheese shop.
