I once was up-graded from Glasgow to London by BA. It was a red-eye, and I was flying "old" Club Class and got a free upgrade to Concorde!! A chartered Concorde was flying back south empty after (I think) dropping off rich golfers in Scotland.
I guess they did it to sell more seats on the standard scheduled red-eye.
A great plane & the flight although too short, was extended by the pilot taking us lucky few out over the Irish sea and going "supersonic" for a few minutes.
I was surprised at how small and "compact" it was.
And, yes, I still have the Concorde cutlery set :-)
