Are there any significant voices in the UK who request to stop funding the royal family and to turn its members into simple citizens? If not, why?

Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the Labour Party, is a republican. He believes the monarchy should be abolished.

Support for republicanism waxes and wanes over the years, but is quite low at the moment [1].

Most British people currently feel that the monarchy is a benefit to the country and expect it to remain in place for at least the next century.
