What is the most corrupt practice by the United States government?

I would say the most corrupt practice in the USA is not performed by the federal government much any more, but is still commonplace in local jurisdictions: Civil forfeiture. This is a practice in which police authorities can seize property without due process of law or charging the owners with any crime. It is extremely difficult to get the property back. Some municipalities are quite intentionally relying on it to fill up their coffers, just as they used to do with unfair speed traps 50 years ago.

Minorities carrying large amounts of cash in their cars are particularly common victims of this abusive practice. Even if no drugs are found in the car, the police assume large sums of cash are drug-related and simply take it, letting the people go.

Never keep valuables visible in your car (keep them in the trunk if possible), and never, ever consent to a search of your car without a search warrant.

The feds used to do this with drugs a lot too: find a few marijuana seeds on your property and seize the whole house. Congress finally put a stop to that.
