I think his health care plan will give him an advantage both in the primaries and in the general election.
One thing that the mainstream media keeps overlooking, very often, is that the public as a whole prefers a Medicare for All system by a solid majority of over 60%. He is committed to this and has been for years. This will help him. People want this. He is getting new voters by the thousands and disillusioned former voters by about as much. And that's just for the primary.
Bernie is proposing a plan that would involve some cost shifting, including some higher taxes. He makes it very very clear that an increase in tax would mean a decrease in costs for most. He is being honest and showing how such taxes can be fair. That's the way you talk about a tax increase. And with this tax increase he's actually providing something many people don't have: healthcare security.
My own pet concern is what it will mean for people employed by private insurance companies and medical billers who currently work for medical practices. We will see large-scale unemployment there and will incur some one-time, short-term and medium-term expenses with unemployment and finding these people new work. This doesn't mean I am against the plan, just that I want to see how those working stakeholders will be impacted. I am pretty sure he has thought about it.
