My favorite misspelling occurred in my first year at Dartmouth. We named our computers after peaks in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and I named my computer "monroe," after Mt. Monroe, one of my favorite summits. Students would get email from thc@monroe.cs.dartmouth.edu, and I had one student address me as "Professor Monroe." Yeah, you got the number of letters right, but that was about it.
