What is the most inappropriate thing you have been asked to do or have done at work?

I am going to get this off my chest, it has been haunting me for years.

I used to work as a secretary for CBS records in London. It was such a different ‘kettle of fish’ as to what I was used to in other companies. Not stuffy or stiff upper lip management. We worked hard and reaped the benefits of a laid back environment.

So when festivities as Christmas came about, we lunched, we partied and we made merry. This particular Christmas, I was about 22 at the time, my department had all gone out to lunch, treated to by our bosses, and we came back to the office late in the day, all rather tipsy and a little bit the worse for wear.

One of our colleagues was clever, she did not drink and so was the most sober and level headed out of all of us. Another colleague took exception to this and was upset that she was not entering into the spirit like the rest of us. There was a lot of whispering going on, unbeknownst to me, but suddenly because I was really not used to drinking and the couple of glasses of wine I had went straight to my head, I found I was just roped in to their dastardly plan.

And this was that they decided to get her in a swivel chair, taped her to it with sellotape both hands and feet. This was when I saw fit to join in decorating her with Christmas tinsel and putting a Christmas hat on her head. We then opened the double doors and unceremoniously pushed her out into the street, and all marched back into the building leaving her there in the freezing cold.

Honestly, it was only about 3 or 4 minutes that we left her there, but when we got her back she was so furious she would not speak to us for 2 weeks. I got the brunt of it as the two of us shared an office, and although she never actually saw the funny side of the prank she did eventually forgive me. However, I do not know that I have ever forgiven myself. Not one of my finest moments.
