The Metropolitan Police ‘Catering Support Unit’ has the radio call sign “Teapot 1”.
What’s British about this? Well, I know it’s a stereotype but drinking tea is very British. We do it all the time. People take any opportunity to drink tea and the presence of a ready supply of hot tea will take the edge off any activity.
Second the British bobby is an icon of Britishness. Finally the slightly self ridiculing humour of calling the van “TEAPOT 1” and driving around using that as a call sign is also a very British thing.
