3 online sources for great PR and marketing jokes

This story first appeared on PR Daily in September, 2015.

We’ve all had bad days when we’d rather be anywhere but our desks.

Whether it’s a missed media opportunity, a client miscommunication or office drama, things happen, and we need a laugh.

Fear not, friends. Here are my favorite online stops for PR and marketing jokes when I need a break from my inbox:

1. When you want to feel better about pitching.

No responses to your brilliant pitch getting you down? Maybe you have an impossible topic or just bad timing? Feel better about your pitches by reading through PRNewser’s Pitch, Please column. The best of the worst pitches to enter reporters’ inboxes for the month are hilariously put together in one big mashup. This month’s column reveals some pretty big pet peeves among reporters.

While you’re at it, be sure to check out Gawker’s running series PR Dummies, which covers the worst pitches their reporters have received. And it comes complete with running commentary, done as only Gawker reporters can.

Don’t you feel better now?

2. When you need to vent.

Agency life is tough, man. Sometimes you just need to let off some steam, or at least remember that there are hundreds of other people just like you with similar problems. Scroll through 99 Problems But a Pitch Ain’t One for some office, PR and marketing humor. Just be careful, since it’s a Tumblr account it’s easy to lose track of just how much time you end up spending on the site. Either way, you won’t be sorry.

3. When you just want a good meme.

Hello, Pinterest. Nice to see you again. But seriously, check out a few of my favorite PR and marketing jokes on Pinterest boards from Tilson PR and PR Daily.

Bonus

If you would rather not think about work-related problems when you’re having a bad day, check out Emergency Kitten. That should make you feel better. I mean, come on. It’s kittens. But don’t worry, if one kitten doesn’t strike your fancy, just click refresh for the next kitten to melt your ice cold heart.
