Extremely false.
Any firearm that can be “readily converted” to fire full auto by simple removal or substitution of parts is legally considered a machine gun and was classified as such back in the 1980s.
In general, a firearm must not be able to be converted to full auto without physical modification to the firearm itself and that modification, whether or not it succeeds, is sufficient evidence that you attempted to make an illegal machine gun. It is a felony to do so.
So no, completely, totally, utterly false. You cannot simply convert a semi-auto to full auto by pulling a pin.
