I think when someone is being kind enough to let you stay in their home, then if they want you out of the home during the day, that is simply the way it is. Allowing someone to stay in your home for 2 weeks is a very big favor. Let’s be honest here, you aren’t so much a guest as an imposition.
But it doesn’t sound like they have told you not to be in the home during the day. It sounds rather like the roommate is simply resentful of people’s presence while he is trying to work at home during the day. Passive aggressive behavior is rude in and of itself though. If he has a problem, he should speak up.
If I were you, I would do my best to be out of the house as much as possible during the day. First of all, you should be out looking at for work and housing, so you should be out. Second, if you recognize you are upsetting one of your hosts, doing what you can to minimize that upset is best.
