Why do adults act superior to adolescents?

When I was a kid and then a teenager I was outraged at all the things adults just didn't understand.

What happens to you when you grow up? Do you get selective amnesia? Does part of your soul die?

I wouldn't be like that. I would write everything down so I wouldn't forget.

Now that I'm an adult I have a different vantage point and can see why adults say the most insulting thing of all.

You wouldn't understand.

You will some day, but you don't now.

I was young once and do have a sense of at least some of the things that today I can no longer see.

It would be so good for all of us to regard each other as allies instead of rivals.

To listen. To respect.

To recognize we both know things the other does not.

We should set the clashing aside because together we would know everything.
