They might if it were a popular vote, but the Electoral College math is against them. They need to win just about all of the swing states to win the election. That won't happen if Trump is their nominee. This is a man who has openly advocated committing war crimes.
Remember Hillary's "3 AM phone call" advertisement? That didn't work with Obama; people were content that he could handle the 3 AM phone call correctly. But if she were to run it again, it will certainly work against Trump.
