In my experience, you don't have to simply accept whatever default social circle comes along. You can consciously, intentionally choose your friends, and when you do, you generally end up with a high-quality circle of awesome people around you.
What do you like talking about? What interests you? Find other people with the same interests. Make a set of awesome friends.
