Living in a rural setting, the sound of guns going off, dogs barking and wolves baying is all part of the background -doesn’t really matter very much. My next door neighbor owns an arsenal of weapons, which he discharges around his property, often. All that means to me is, “Dave is home.”
At the local grocery and gas, guys with rifles and side arms, ammo (and bait) for sale, etc. Ho-hum.
Me? I don’t carry. I do own a rifle, which is rusty, and a pellet gun for chasing off critters. But I don’t often use it.
In the city, the situation might be different. Gunshots there might indicate a problem. But still, the shots and sirens and horns? Meh. All part of the background.
No biggie, really.
