It's estimated that 1 in 20 children have been the victims of contact sexual abuse in Britain. That equates to approximately 280,000 children.
90% of these cases involved people that children knew and hence probably trusted to keep them safe.
Repairing the damage done by sexual abuse is very, very difficult. It's a horrifying abuse of trust and a violation of innocence, inflicted on victims which are among the most vulnerable members of our society.
