How do I break it to my 10 year old son the news that he was adopted?

You could wait until he gets mad at you for something, and when he shouts, "This is stupid!  I wish I was adopted!"  you then say, "Well, you were."

But it would be better if you followed everyone else's advice than mine.  My father-in-law was teased mercilessly by his sisters:  "We know something you don't know," and finally learned about his adoption when he was in his teens.  Keeping the secret just messed a lot with the family dynamics--I'm surprised that someone hasn't hinted or told him already.
